Corrina, Corrina [Region 2] (1994) Review

I've been wanting to buy this movie on DVD for myself for such a long time, and I finally did the other day. I just watched it tonight. It's still as great as it was the many over times I've watched it.
Corrina, Corrina is a heartwarming film that's heartbreaking romantic, and all around a joy to watch. Whoopi Goldberg plays a nanny who is hired by an Athiest (Ray Liotta) to look after his 7 year old girl, Molly. It takes some time getting used to Corrina and her religous beliefs (because she'd tell Molly that her mother, who had recently passed away, was in Heaven and the father told Corrina not to be telling Molly such things because he and his deceased wife were Athiest), but in the end, the father comes to accept Corrina's intentions and find what's best for his daughter. There are some heartbreaking moments in the film that will have tears running down your cheeks, but there are also moments where you'll be laughing your sorrow away. This movie is pretty much perfect. When Molly's mother died, she became miserable and wouldn't talk to anyone. She wouldn't say one word. But, when Corrina came into her life, Molly slowly became her fun old self and she began glowing once again. This is a great film to watch over and over again and you'll never grow tired of it.

Westinghouse 64318 One-Light Flush Mount Ceiling Fixture, Polished Brass with Frosted Glass Shade Review

The lamp was a breeze to install and was very bright.There was only one issue, one of the supplied CFL bulbs (I bought 2 of these lamps) was dead. Westinghouse did not respond to e-mail and in the end it was not such a big deal as everyone thought the 13W CFLs were too bright, so they were replaced with 9W ones ... Not that anyone noticed !

12" Monceau Table Fan Review

Incredibly solid, heavy, well-built and nice looking fan. Unfortunately it is extremely loud at all speeds and moves almost no air, thoroughly defeating the purpose it was built for. Cannot carry on a conversation with it in the same room, even on low; and any fan you have to stand within 3 feet of to feel air moving (maybe all of 5 feet on high) is worthless.

My cheap (Feature Comforts, made by Soleus, approx $30 retail) 10-inch fan far, far outperforms this, and does do relatively quietly, moving more air on low than this Hunter can on high.

Would recommend trying somewhere before buying (22 lbs shipping weight to return), or better yet, buy a different brand. Very expensive for what it does (annoy), but too pretty to toss off my balcony.

UPDATE -- was shipped a replacement fanfrom Hunter (not ordered thru Amazon). 2nd one arrived with no ability to lock down a tilt setting -- free flops all the way forward and back. Also smells of oil after running for a few minutes, but no visible leaks. Tad less loud, but not much. Still nowhere near as much air flow as a fan this size should be able to kick out. Hunter clearly has some quality control issues to work out on this model. Considering they ship direct from U.S. location and only in untaped factory box, there is no excuse for not unboxing and checking every unit before it leaves the warehouse, especially at this price point for a made-in-China fan. Last Hunter fan I will ever purchase.

World Imports Lighting 8435-42 Uptown Colonial 15-Light Chandelier, Rust Review

The center, where the top and bottow chandelier rows come together, was attached crooked. So, if you really look at it when installed, you can see that the two rows are not centered with one another. We didn't notice until it was installed, so no sense it taking it all down now. It still looks very pretty in the room. Also, the "plastic candlestick" pieces that should be ivory or white, were yellow - as if the white plastic sat around too long and turned yellow. We had to purchase replacements. For the price, the chandelier was still worth the purchase.

Please read this first before you buy this lamp.
I bought for the amber look to it. The look is great
in a rustic setting or in a room that has orange
in it, etc. But for the price I paid it wasn't worth it
$159.00. The 3 way part doesn't work at all.
So my lamp is only a 2 way, which I
have to wiggle to get it to turn on.

We ordered this product against other reviews figuring it's one in a million that we would receive a fan that was broken and defective.
One of the glass light covers was broken, and the motor cover was bent and had a wide gap that couldn't be fixed. Also we noticed that it had tiny light bulbs that would be impossible to find anywhere!
I wouldn't reccomend purchasing this fan to anyone!

Halogen Clip-On Light Review

I bought 3 of these several years ago. The first thing I did was take off the cage around the light. I know it's there for safety reasons but it really gets in the way. I love the lamp because it clamps on to most table fairly easy. It's well constructed. I have bent them into tons of shapes and haven't broken them yet. I have a display at a trade show and I can direct the bright lights where I need them the most. I do have to say that the light gets very hot (thus the cages) but I always tell people not to touch them. I did bake an apple with one once! It was delicious. I teach drawing class and had the light on an apple for about an hour and it cooked it!

Meyda Tiffany - 26182: Victorian Floral - 23" 3 Arm Victorian Chandelier Review

This is a beautiful fixture, but it does have drawbacks. I bought it locally about 7 years ago. I had to take it back three times because there was a flaw in how they were welding the flowers to the ornate framework. I'd open the box and there would be one or two of them broken off in the container. I'm sure they've fixed their process by now... Also, when you are buying lights like this, make sure to check the wattage. This is very pretty when lit (even the center has a light in it), but the sconces only take tiny 40-watt bulbs, so the light is very dim.

The lamp would not assemble in a straight, upright manner.Attempts to gently bend it into line did not work.After a few tries -- and I can't overstate how lightly I pushed -- the screw assembly broke off the frame.It was hopeless at that point.

I was dissatisfied with the lamp, its poor quality and the assembly hassles involved.So I sent it back for a refund.Lamps Plus would not payreturn shipping, just as they did not pay for original shipping to me.(They would have paid for all shipping if I had exchanged the broken one with a replacement.)So I was out $120 shipping and have no lamp.

Kenroy Home 3313 Accolade One-Light Torchiere, Brush Steel with White Scavo Globe Review

I purchased this lamp for my son's nursery -- I wanted a light with a dimmer so I wouldn't wake him up too much with the middle-of-the-night feedings.

Overall I've been very pleased with this product. It has a nice weight to it -- doesn't feel cheap or flimsy by any means. The lampshade itself is made of a glass-like product (maybe it is glass?), which is nice since a lot of lamps of this style that I've seen have flimsy plastic shades.

I also really like how the dimmer has a nightlight sort of feature so you can find it in the dark.

One word of caution, though -- the diameter of the lampshade at the top is quite large. If you're aiming to put this in the corner of a room, be aware that you'll have to have it farther from the wall than you might have thought. (ie, in cramped quarters near a wall, might not ideal.)

Overall, I'd recommend this product to a friend and would buy this brand again.

I purchased this Lamp and one similar as gifts for my Mother and Daughter. They adored their gifts and this item is a wonderful gift idea for anyone who likes to have Tiffany & a warm, nitelite type Lamp in their home or office. Adesso Piedmont Combo Torchiere, Steel Review

This torchiere floor lamp is a good buy for the price. Although I would have prefered a halogen powered lamb with a dimmer switch. This is a suitable alternative that provide sufficient lighting with two 75 watt bulbs or you can go higher with 100 watt bulbs. The attached reading lamp is handy if want a little less lighting in the room with it's 60 watt bulb. I only wish that the main lamb and reading lamp had separate switches instead there is a single 4 phase switch (off-reading-main-both). The design is stylish although the top shade barely covers the light bulbs. Overall it's was a good purchase.

UltraLux 70w HD Infinity Nickel Torchiere Review

The item looks great--yes it is pricey.But then again you are paying for the "new" technology of the item.The light gives off less actual light than a 300W halogen in terms of actual light.Also, the color of the light is very white.This is something someone either loves or hates.In my case, having it in a living room, it sticks out like a sore thumb.One almost needs sunglasses to deal with the whiteness of the light.
I salute the company for coming up with a powerful light and one that has a very high CRI, but to replace a 300W halogen they will need more wattage in the bulb--maybe like 100W.Also, the color should be softer like the yellow most of us are used to in a halogen or soft white comp. fluorescent.I understand the white light may be helpful for SAD sufferers and may be the reason it is better for reading, but frankly it is too white for most rooms in a house.And it will make a home feel like an office building.

Product Description:
Alibangbang, known as the butterfly leaf in the native language or Ilango, is shaped like a butterfly. This leaf has both medicinal and food flavoring purposes throughout the South Pacific. Fossilization is the process of drying leaves over a three to four month period and then hand rubbing the chlorophyll of the leaf so only the leafs skeleton remains. Once the chlorophyll is removed, the leaf is stained in organic dyes. Since the leaves are natural,each one will absorb dye differently. The resulting effect is a lamp with different hues and shades (sometimes within the same leaf). These leaves are adhered to a heat resistant lamp backing. The frame is constructed from wrought iron, making the lamp very strong and durable; then its powder coated in order to ensure longevity of its color. 6 diameter x 18 tall and uses 1 x 40 watt medium base bulb, compact florescent bulb highly recommended.

Although the Amazon.com web site states that this particular lamp "usually ships within 2-3 weeks of ordering," I waited for close to a month for shipment of this item. I did receive an email notifying me of the delay. However, the delayed ship date came and went without any notification that the item was on its way.
I used the Amazon.com customer service interface to email the vendor and inquire about how much longer the delay would be. Later that same day, I received a generic email from Amazon.com that my order had been unceremoniously canceled. There was no explanation in the message about why nor was there any additional, "Hey, we're sorry" from the vendor.
I'm very disappointed with this experience.

MAXXAIR HVPF 22 OSC 22-Inch Heavy-duty Three Speed Pedestal Fan Review

Pros:
Relatively quiet motor, very heavy duty. Strong base, heavy duty cord with plenty of length. Light enough to carry from room to room. 3 speeds offer good airflow choices.

Cons:
Oscillating mechanism started to squeek after a couple weeks. This is very irritating when yo are trying to sleep. WD40 does little to quiet the noise. A heavy duty fan such as this should have been built with an equally heavy duty oscillating gear.
Also, assembling the fan took great agility and innovation. When assembling the front fan shield, several screws are required to hold it in place. The shield is heavy and moves easily, making it difficult to start the screws into their threads. I took several plastic ties and attached the front shield onto the rear shield with them. Once the front shield was somewhat fixed in place I was able to use both hands to start the screws to hold the front shield onto the rear shield. Once everything was screwed into place I snipped off the plastic ties and I was done.

Kenroy Home 2454 Accolade One-Light Table Lamp, Oil Rubbed Bronze with Off-White Drum Shade Review

I really like this lamp in that it has a heavier base than most lamps, so it doesn't feel like it was made poorly. It also shows up as an almost black color, darker than I'd thought based on the description. It's still a great lamp, though.

Eureka Square Floor Saver Review

Although not really expensive,this plastic ground cover is not worth the price. On it's first use, this relatively light weight plastic ground cover developed holes from the slightly uneven ground surface at the campsite (small rocks and roots, which are quite normal for most campsites). If I had it to do again, I would not purchase this product but would instead put the money to better use by buying either a 6-mil piece of heavy duty plastic or by purchasing a heavier duty tarp. I used it clamped to a shelf.Don't.The stress on the molded plasic prong that keeps it in the holder is too great, and it will break if you use the lamp pulled forward and down.I know.I've broken two.While I have not used it as a table model, I see no reason why it would not break there as well given the same circumstances.They should use two prongs or a metal assemply.

The best thing you can look for in something as simple as a lamp is function and construction quality. This lamp has both - a fully operational full-range dimmer switch, and thick brushed steel. Another nice feature is Masterglow - which puts a light sensor on the pole of the lamp resulting in automatic operation.
