This is what the specs said: "
Professional-quality magnifier lamp for medical, cosmetology and manufacturing applications
Extra-large 7-1/2" x 6-1/4" rectangular glass lens, optical-quality 3-diopter magnification
Two 9-watt fluorescent bulbs produce better working light, more efficient with less heat; UL listed
Sturdy five-leg stand with swivel caster wheels for easy mobility with excellent stability
34" spring-assisted flex arm allows exact positioning; adjustable tension & position lock "I expected to receive a sturdy base-one piece metal legs and base.
What I received was a flimsy legged base and post-the base topis plastic and the weight of the whole assembly rests on one bolt fastened into a flimsy plastic base.. with short joints radiating out of the base top. The "Sturdy five-leg stand" also consists of flimsy plastic feet that have to slide into the base top----these are all loose but one which had a catch neck calibrated too short to receive the leg.So that one, after much careful tapping into place is tight and the others if the lamp is picked up to roll up over carpet, can fall off.
The "sturdy" part is the 35# cement weight to keep the lamp from toppling when adjusting--perhaps it might prevent it if the feet don't fall or break off.
The post is another matter, it is 2 pieces of 1" metal that screw into the single base bolt and each other. It leans when you move the lamp, have it stationary, or attempt to adjust the lamp arm. This is with the bolt with washers tightened just below the plastic base breakage point.
Did I mention that the base bolt holding all the bits upright is too short?Well, it is by 1/4".The assembly gives you a plastic disk, and a lock nut to screw with the cement the plastic base, the washer and connecting washer to the post. The disk and lock nut can't be used because the bolt is too short.Perhaps the cement is too deep--quality control issues.
The arm and weight of the lamp's "34" spring-assisted flex arm " is about 10#.That arm has a 3" finger that is inserted to the top of the 26" post and held in place with a thumbscrew pin. Thus when the arm is adjusted in any position other than vertical center over the post base, the post and arm leans. The good part about the lamp is the magnifier and lights. They work fine once you carefully get the whole thing adjusted where you want it.This is not made for someone that has shoulder or other mobility problems.
I expect the post and base to last intact perhaps 6 months, even with careful action.Shipping was $25.Taking the lamp apart and mailing it back would just be more of a loss.I wouldn't purchase anything from this manufacturer again due to the creative spec description and quality control issues.
