Please note: this lamp only works with a special verilux lightbulb. For me that was a huge problem, because the lightbulb was too dim for reading and the light color was too cold for my taste. It looked icy blue in my apartment.
Since I couldn't go out and replace with a brighter, warmer color bulb, I ended up having to return this item.
The manufacturer claims that their "special" light bulb is scientifically designed to be pleasing for the eyes, etc.
To my eyes, it looked dingy. I get much more pleasing effects from standard compact fluorescents, as long as they are balanced on the warm side of the spectrum. Unfortunately, this lamp doesn't work with any other light bulbs.
