First of all, you have to assemble it when it arrives.But more disappointingly than that: it is just about impossible to direct the light beam so that it falls directly on your page, so as a bedside reading lamp it is sort of a bust. I give it three stars because I think they made the lamp they meant to make, but it just isn't what I wanted.
