The package came slightly squashed. Although I'm sure for what it is it is quality materials, this shouldn't even be called a lamp. It doesn't even give off enough light to be anything other than a fancy, fuzzy nightlight. And.. Its completely ugly. Totally not what was expected.

Arco Black Cube-Shaped Marble Base Floor Lamp Review

OK -- if you say the base is marble, I'll take your word for it. Mine looks like plain black rock. Not really a problem -- I didn't buy this for the base!

Overall, this is an extremely high-quality lamp. It looks gorgeous, and is mechanically sound -- which is important with something as big as this. This is a big lamp, with a HUGE arc, and it will be a definite conversation piece in your living room. Ours is in my photo studio lounge, and clients always comment on how beautiful it is.

Assembly was not trivial -- some mechanical skill is required. It took me about 45 minutes to put it together properly. HIghly recommended.

71" Basic Halogen Torchiere Floor Lamp w/180 Watt Bulb Review

I love this lamp. This was the cheapest halogen lamp I could fine and was very happy. Shipping was quick and customer service was very good. Woods 13568 Indoor 3-Outlet Wireless Remote Converter Kit Review

This isn't a reflection on Amazon, or Target where I purchased this product.I bought 2 sets at the end of 2008.Each package had a non-functioning receiver.I put the two defects in one package and returned it.The set I kept and used worked to specification until a few months ago.The transmitter 1 On button (most used button, for bedroom floor lamp) began to fail, requiring several presses to operate and today it quit working entirely.I'd already researched Woods Wire/Coleman Cable and realized I wasn't going to get far with any warranty request.I disassembled the remote and confirmed a bad switch with a multimeter.I opened the defective switch (destructive, no reassembling it) and observed some material transfer from the center contact to the switch 'dome' contact that may have been preventing current flow.I unsoldered the switch and replaced it with a switch from an answering machine keypad.It worked better than new because the replacement switch was better quality to start with.Two other switches on the remote were intermittently displaying a weak LED, they were failing also.I replaced all six switches and the remote works better than new, the crisp click of the replacement switches provides better tactile feedback and they work every time.I understand mass production and low cost products to meet competitive price points but it's unfortunate that the manufacturer didn't spend another 50 cents and assemble a reliable product that could last more than a year.Perhaps the newest units are 'upgraded' and my experience is not typical.From a use perspective, I love having a single remote on my nightstand to control 2 lamps and the rear surround wireless receiver for a Samsung theater without getting up.From a quality/durability perspective, you may want to look for competitive products.

Antique Brass Torchiere with Alabastor Shade Review

Unfortunately, the shades on the two lamps that we ordered were darker than illustrated. As the alabaster is quite thick, it provided very little light, even with a 100W bulb. In addition, one of the two lamps was assembled incorrectly, so that we couldn't put it together without re-wiring the lamp.

On the bright side, the pole and base were quite nice, with a very heavy brass base so that I think it would have been difficult for children to tip over.

This is a lamp quite easy to assembly but need 2 people to hold the rod and arms. Someone complaints this is too heavy to assembly but definitely i see it as a plus for the build. Love this lamp. I recommend it. besides, every website states that the light bulbs are not included which is not true. 5-40 watts bulbs are nicely placed inside the shipment. Kenroy Home Park Avenue 3-Piece Lamp Set with Oil-Rubbed Bronze Finish Review

I bought these lamps several months ago.For the price, I was half-expecting three wobbly lamps.So I was quite pleased to receive, instead, a set of sturdy, stylish lamps.They are made in China, so while I can't comment on the material content, I can report that the lamps were carefully wrapped and meticulously packaged--there was not so much as a wrinkle on a lamp shade, and the lamps themselves were in perfect condition.As I am not particularly good at DIY projects, I was happy that the lamps were already prewired, with all of the parts in place.It only required screwing the linked pieces together, a task that even I could handle easily.

Each lamp uses two light bulbs of up to 100 watts each, giving plenty of light for reading.They don't take three-way bulbs, but the dual pull chains give you an option for how much light you use.They also accomodate the spiral, "greener" light bulbs without browning the shades.As I have said, these lamps are sturdy, and the bronze finish is attractive and glossy.

After three months of daily use, these lamps look as good as the day I unpacked them.The only "flaw" that I have found is that one of my cats thinks the pull chains are cat toys, and so occasionally he manages to turn on a lamp in the middle of the night.And I don't suppose I can really blame that on the manufacturer or amazon.com!

The bottom line is, this is an attractive and sturdy set of lamps, and an excellent value.I highly recommend them.

Amazon's brief description of this lamp is correct.Lamps Plus is not. As I found it, this lamp had a dimmer feature at one time. It no longer does. I called Lamps Plus customer service and was given the "apology" speech and told me they were in the process of updating their website specs.I was offered a dimmer switch at a discounted price. I ended up getting it for free.
Now about this lamp. It is very heavy and nice and classy to look at. The quality of the mission style lamp shows as I proudly display it in my home. The lowest lamp height measures 45.5 inches from the base to base of lamp glass. Uses four 60 watt bulbs (not included) which are too bright at times. A dimmer is a must for me.Paid $199.00 during the January sale. I would have given 5 stars if it came with a dimmer feature.

Superior Floor Lamp for Sewing & Scrapbooking - Nickel Review

I did a search on floor lamp for reading several weeks ago and found this product. I immediately loved it by its nickel finished appearance.
The price is attractive too comparing with others.
I ordered one with free shipping. I received it as expected timing. Everything is great. I ordered the 2nd one.
There was minor cosmetic problem with this one. I reported it to Ken's by email. I got a replay, saying, "we will take care of this Thanks, Kevin".
No more words before I received a replacement yesterday. It is fast!

My first one was shipped in the original manufaturer's package. It was not in an extra shipping box. The 2nd one was shipped with an extra plastic paper wrapped, but the plactic paper was broken upon arrival. No physical damage to the product during 2 shipments because the original manufacturer box is strong enough. However, it is better to put it in an extra box or use stronger plastic paper to wrap it before the shipment. This is not a serious issue.

It is a great full spectrum reading lamp in this price range.

Highly recommend it to you.

Kenroy Home Emilo Table Lamp with 16 inch Tan Textured Woven shade Review

I ordered two lamps for my bedroom.With pillow-top beds being so tall, it's important for me to have tall lamps.These are perfect.Some things you might want to know:

The shade for the "bronze" lamp is a bamboo color, not really a light beige.I happen to love this.When the lamp is on, the lamp shade glows, hilighting the woven detail.

The base is very dark - it appears more black than brown.

Contrary to the description, there is only one pull chain. (The picture is accurate.)When you pull the chain, both bulbs are on - it is not a "three-way" lamp.This is my only complaint and is the reason for listing this with 4 stars instead of 5.

My lamps shipped with lots of packaging and arrived in excellent condition.Assembly was easy, requiring no tools.Be careful when removing the celophane around the shade - any imperfections in the shade are very visible when the lamp is on.

I am considering purchasing the same lamps for my living room!The price ($69) was very reasonable for this lamp.

THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! THE PRICE WAS RIGHT AND IT ARRIVED IN A SHORT TIME AND IN GOOD CONDITION. IT WAS VERY EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND I WAS PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO DO IT MYSELF.
I REPLACED MY PREVIOUS LAMP WHICH WAS MUCH MORE MONEY AND HAD A HALOGEN BULB.THAT DID NOT LAST ANY MORE THAN TWO YEARS WHEN THE TRANSFORMER WENT! THIS ONE HAS A SIMPLE 60 WATT BULB AND DOES JUST AS GOOD A JOB AS THE ONEI SPENT A FORTUNE ON.

Adesso Spotlight Floor Lamp, Steel Review

The lamp needs very minor assembly which is easily done, you don't even need instructions (a good thing since I didn't get any).I wanted a floor lamp that did not have the round flat disk base that most floor lamps rest on because I'm sick of that look.So this one is at least different with its tripod legs and it is handy to move near a project needing extra light.The height of the lamp is adjustable, it's very versatile.I like that I can aim the beam at a wall to get indirect lighting in a room.But for the price, and I realize there are lamps out there costing waaaaaaaaay more than this one, but for around $75 I expected something better than what I got.I have a desk lamp that I bought many years ago at Walmart for about ten bucks and the quality far exceeds that of this floor lamp.It works and all that but it just has a sort of flimsy, cheap feel to it.The on/off knob feels flimsy as do the knobs that loosen and tighten to hold the shade at the desired angle.First try and the knobs won't turn enough, more force and you ge them loose, then to tighten you turn them, they feel tight, let go of the shade and it falls forward so more force on the cheap knobs and it stays put. If I had found this at Dollar General for ten dollars I'd be raving about it, even if I had paid $20 and I'd be happy.But no way is this lamp worth $75.Still, I'm keeping it.Update:I did discover that there was a bolt loose inside the shade and by tightening it the shade stays put better when I re-aim it.

Adesso Atlas Floor Lamp, Satin Steel Review

My beautiful floor lamp came yesterday! It is really a great lamp, just what I wanted when I started looking. It is better looking than the picture. I had read other reviews that complained about the on/off switch being on the floor but I think the on/off switch is designed to be on a low table next to a chair or couch; otherwise why else would there be so mu cord before and after the switch?Assembly was easy, the hard part was rearranging my living room furniture. My only complaint is the instructions but they have nothing to do with the overall quality of the lamp.Here is my advice: assemble in an area near where it will end up (it is a very heavy base) but where you have about 3 open feet ( i..e 360 degrees around your workspace). The top part comes as a unit and screws into the base-you will need space for the top to swivel. So anyhow, lots of lamp for the price and I would recommend it to anyone without qualification.

Grandrich PL-27W Full Spectrum Replacement Bulb Review

10,000 hours = 416 days. In other words, more than a year.

I bought this replacement bulb on Oct 6, 2005. Today is the first of Feb. 2006--it died. Assuming that I never turned off the lamp during those 3 months, my math tells me that in order for the bulb to burn out I must have had the lamp on for 111 hours/day for five months. (111 hours x 30 days x 3 months = 9990 hours.) Only, I never quite lived a 111 hour day yet.

If I figure I used the lamp for no more than 6 hrs/day for those 3 months. I only got 540 hours out of it. However you look at it, it seems this bulb missed the mark on the 10,000 in a premature death.

This is a great energy saving lamp. I didn't realize that it doesn't accept regular bulbs, but as it comes with a bulb and works well, I have no complaints! The iron wrought part of the lamp should be described as brown--not the best color, unless it fits in with your color scheme!

My main complaint here is not about color, however. It's the lampshade. The packaging of the product is not very good as my lampshade arrived with dents that I can't get out.

Adesso Bella Floor Lamp, Chrome Review

Got this yesterday, delivery was not quick. Due to the large shade, it has a few drawbacks: its awkward to put together (2ppl would be better), and it's so dark.For a 100 watt bulb, you would need a few of these to just get decent light.returning it is a hassle, so I am going to look for another shade.The base and touch on/off switch is nice. Due to the horribale shade this gets 1 star.

Verilux Legacy Natural Spectrum Floor Lamp, Aged Bronze Review

The light is nice, but the lamp's construction is terrible. I guess it it made to be put together very carefully and never touched or adjusted. The pole screws together in several locations and as much as we tried to tighten it, being careful to not cross-thread the fragile aluminum threads, it still looked kinked instead of straight as in the picture (the head of the light seemed too heavy for the strength of the pole). Also, after some use in adjusting the angle of the light, the head would no longer stay in place and would flop down. (The lamp didn't offer any way of tightening the head.) After two years the bolt that holds the lamp's pole to the base got stripped and it no longer stays up. To the trash it goes.Expensive for such cheap quality. Also be aware that the bulb, which I did need to replace, cost between $15 and $20 each.

Adesso Aries Torchiere, Black Review

I was looking for an economical functional floor lamp.This lamp fits the requirements.The style is simple and functional.Many other floor lamps I looked at only allowed one 150 watt bulb.My experience with those was poor.They lit up the ceiling well, but they just weren't bright enough to illuminate the rest of the room.This one takes two 150 watt conventional bulbs, so it is very bright.

The dimmer switch has two settings, full power or half-power.You can NOT adjust it to in-between levels.

I'm using it with compact spiral fluorescent bulbs instead of normal bulbs.(None of the fluorescent bulbs i've seen are compatible with dimmers.They all require full power.I just never use the half-way mark on the light switch.I've had the lamp with CFL bulbs for several months and have not had any problems.)

This lamp does not qualify as fine furniture.It is not going to elicit comments like "ooh, what a lovely lamp".It just lights up the room well in basic, modern, functional style.

studio halogen floor lamp Review

It's a lamp I'd recommend to everyone. As far as being eye candy, It looks ultra-expensive and I recieve tons of compliments on it. Although I consider it an artpiece in itself, it's not overwhelmingly artsy so there's virtually nowhere it would look out of place except maybe in a countryside themed home. The dimming feature is the greatest...you slide a bar at the base near where's the plugged in and although such halogen can be overwhelming, you can find a range anywhere from major floodlight power to cozy intimacy.
